Search “best DaaS providers” and you’ll find lists built for American enterprises buying Dell or HP subscriptions through US channel partners. For a Canadian IT Director managing 1,000 Zebra scanners across three provinces, or a CFO who needs the contract denominated in CAD with no balance-sheet surprise under IFRS 16, those lists are useless. This […]
Read moreSearch “device lifecycle management” in Canada and you’ll mostly get IT channel generalists whose device practice is laptops, desktops, and smartphones. That’s a real service, and for a PC estate it’s the right one. It’s a different job from managing rugged handhelds, scanners, and printers that stop a shift when they fail, and the published […]
Read moreIt is 6:45 AM on a Tuesday in a grocery chain’s Mississauga distribution hub. The IT Director pulls up the MDM console and sees 11 stores in Quebec running an app version two releases behind, four Alberta locations with expired Wi-Fi certificates, and a batch of newly deployed scanners in BC that never completed enrollment. […]
Read moreYou ask your IT director a simple question: How many active wireless lines do we have across all stores? Two weeks later, you get a spreadsheet. It was built from three different carrier portals, cross-referenced against an MDM export that hasn’t been reconciled since Q2, and annotated with notes like “possibly closed location — need […]
Read moreCanadian hospitals run on mobile devices. Nurses scan medication barcodes with Zebra handhelds. Physicians access patient records from tablets between rounds. Technicians track specimens with rugged scanners across multiple care sites. Each of these devices carries patient data, connects to clinical networks, and falls under Canadian privacy regulations that grow stricter each year. Managing this clinical […]
Read moreYou’re staring at a spreadsheet with 2,000 line items — every scanner, mPOS terminal, and handheld that needs to land in 400+ stores before Black Friday. The last time your team attempted this internally, it consumed six weeks of IT capacity, produced three different device configurations that nobody could explain, and nearly missed the deployment […]
Read moreYour fleet has four different scanner models running three different Android versions. The holiday surge starts in eight weeks. The CFO just rejected your capital request for 200 additional handhelds because “we already bought devices two years ago.” And the store manager in Thunder Bay is calling again because her only working scanner has a […]
Read moreA warehouse team counts 10,000 SKUs by hand every quarter. Each cycle takes a week, pulls staff off the floor, and still produces a 3–5% error rate. Meanwhile, assets move between locations with no real-time visibility, and shrinkage costs climb. For Canadian enterprises managing large device fleets and complex inventory, these operational gaps are line […]
Read moreIt’s 9:15 a.m. on a Saturday in November. A district manager in Ontario gets a call—three stores have scanners down, the mPOS terminals at the flagship are rebooting mid-transaction, and nobody can tell her how many spare devices exist across her 80-location territory. She opens the spreadsheet. It was last updated in June. This is […]
Read moreYou run 150 stores across four provinces. Your MDM console shows green across the board—devices enrolled, policies applied, compliance status healthy. But your store managers in Quebec are calling about scanners that won’t connect to the updated Wi-Fi profile. Your Ontario locations are running two different versions of the inventory app. And your PCI auditor […]
Read moreWhen an enterprise rolls out 500 or 1,000 mobile devices at once, the margin for error is razor-thin. A misconfigured mobile device management (MDM) policy or a dead-on-arrival (DOA) unit that slips through quality assurance (QA) can cascade into days of frontline downtime. For IT leaders managing fleets of rugged scanners, handhelds, and tablets across […]
Read moreIt is 2 a.m. on a medical unit when a nurse discovers the barcode scanner will not power on mid-medication pass. The backup device—the one that should be in the charging cradle—is already broken, wedged in a drawer with a cracked screen. The charge nurse calls IT, but the help desk closed three hours ago. […]
